United MileagePlus members can now bid with miles through a new auction program called Headliners.

You can bid for a host of experiences including once-in-a-lifetime trips, “airline adventures that money can’t buy” (according to United) and tickets for theater and sporting events. When the site premiered last month, auction offers included a United flight simulator experience in Denver, a Mammoth Mountain ski trip including travel and a private mountain guide and local events including tickets to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and performances at New York’s Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Each month, MileagePlus will offer at least one unique bidding opportunity that includes VIP access; and later this year, you will be able to bid on being a passenger on a United Boeing 787 Dreamliner delivery flight. Continental once had a popular online auction program that was discontinued so now it’s back under the United banner and promises more cultural and entertainment experiences.
