The Accor Group has announced that by the end of 2022 all single-use plastic from its more than 5000 hotels worldwide will be abolished.

The hotel group (which includes brands like Ibis, Novotel and Sofitel) is following the industry trend already adopted by Hyatt, Marriott and Intercontinental Hotel Group.

According to Accor, its affiliated hotels currently get through more than 200 million disposable plastic items per year in the rooms, restaurants and meeting rooms. As well as toiletries; plastic cups, water bottles, slippers, cutlery, straws and food containers will also be replaced.

For many guests, individual toiletries (especially ones from well-known brands such as Lanvin or Hermes at luxury Sofitel hotels) are part of the experience. It will be interesting to see how Accor intends to deliver that luxury feel, without individual products.

I wonder how they will be able to implement tamper-proof containers for bath products… or will they be in single use bladder packs? Also, whaddabout toothbrushes, will they have the expensive eco-friendly bamboo bristle brushes and revert to zinc tubes for toothpaste?

“Green” politicians and their media want to feel us guilty , while they often live a life in luxury paid on tax payers hard earned money.
Now they hired “Global warming” and “Climate change – experts” to underline their demands .

    What is next ?
For sustainability we have removed our aircon / changed the maximum cooling to 80 degrees, but we supply a fan in every room .
In cold countries: Due to saving energy , we will heat up the rooms to max 60 degrees (16,8 C)
If You don´t have warm clothes , we will supply a logo one size fleece sweater for every guest .
