American AAdvantage members can earn up to 16,500 bonus miles when you purchase miles through July 31, 2014.

Through the promotion, AAdvantage members will earn bonus miles when you purchase miles as follows:

-Buy 16,000 – 20,000 miles = 2,000 mile bonus
-Buy 21,000 – 30,000 miles = 4,000 mile bonus
-Buy 31,000 – 40,000 miles = 7,000 mile bonus
-Buy 41,000 – 54,000 miles = 10,000 mile bonus
-Buy 55,000 or more miles = 16,500 mile bonus

A purchase of the minimum 16,000 miles (receive 18,000 with the bonus) will cost $440.

INSIDE|Point: If you have a specific award flight in mind and need a few more miles to top off your account, this is a good time to purchase. If you don’t plan on using the miles immediately, you can also check with US Airways as they often offer bonus promotions that can make Dividend Miles less expensive than purchasing AAdvantage miles. Presumably Dividend Miles will become AAdvantage miles sometime next year.
