No coat? No problem.

Toronto’s new $456 million airport train will be “a sun worshipper’s dream,” says the chief engineer for UP (Union Pearson) Express, scheduled to open in time for the Pan Am Games in summer 2015.

Snowbirds in downtown condos and offices will be able to walk the PATH in their shorts to Union Station, pull their bags along the Skywalk to the UP Express terminal, check in with their airline and board a train that leaves every 15 minutes. Twenty-five minutes later they will be inside the airport.

No need to step outdoors until there’s a sandy beach in sight.

David Ballantyne is talking up the convenience of the new air-rail shuttle during a frosty morning tour of the UP Express station taking shape at Pearson.

Nothing new to report, though a fee will be levied on passengers to make up for lost parking revenue. It was originally projected at 1.85/trip and now at $2/trip.

Estimates are up to $30 per trip, probably in the $25 range.

I think it is still on goal for spring 2015 ahead of PanAm games in Toronto.
More reading about ridership and potential cost-break points from Neptis can be seen here (though they project price at the low end of the estimate) and the Union Pearson Express webpage itself.

Pricing for the Pearson-Union Express train is out. $27 for a one way trip 😮 , less if you have the Presto-card ($19). You can buy on board for $2 surcharge

to obtain a Presto card, you would go hear to order one - https://www.prestocard.ca/en-US/Pages/ContentPages/AboutPresto.aspx

Can you still take the shuttle bus to the TTC (real cheap)?

Plus it may go to where you want to go.

AFAIK, the TTC will still run the Airport Rocket 192. It has been a mainstay for many a savvy and frugal traveller. In fact, they are increasing service for the summer (including PanAm games) increasing frequency to 10 min or less.

The 192 still goes to Kipling, yes?
