It used to be AC:80.
This flight is now Rouge.
I recently booked this trip and chose mainline YYZ-BOG, then Avianca BOG-LIM. One of the problems with Rouge is the flight times have you arriving in the middle of the night and departing in the very wee hours of the morning. Maybe they figure that if you're bleary-eyed enough you won't notice the difference.
Was itinerary more expensive ?
I am interested as I am planning a river cruise on the Amazon.
UA has itinerary...YWG-YYC-IAH-LIM and not expensive if you are not concerned with status miles.
AC to PYT and then a cnx with COPA is a good option also and in fact might be better than going through BOG IMHO. COPA has a lot of flights ex PYT.
Right now for my dates the Tango fares for Rouge and for my route on mainline are identical.
Is the departure time still the same?
Departure times ex-YYZ are very different. Rouge YYZ-LIM departs at 17:55 and arrives 00:45+1. Mainline YYZ- BOG-LIM departs 08:20 and arrives 18:35. Return Rouge LIM-YYZ departs 02:15 (ouch) and arrives 11:15. Mainline LIM-BOG-YYZ departs 09:35 and arrives 21:40. Yes you pay with a wait in BOG, but you get decent flights and reasonable arrival/departure times at LIM. Prices are identical at all fare levels for my dates.
AC:1946 to Lima
Brutal arrival time.1:45am.
And the hotel, as usual, gets the check-in dates wrong.
Throws off at least 24hrs. of travel adjustment time.
