YYZ Summer Construction

Discussion in 'Air Canada | Aeroplan' started by daMonster, Apr 8, 2011.  |  Print Topic

  1. Well with the good weather returning (hopefully), there is going to be some construction at the airport yet again(May-July).
This will limit the arrivals and departures during busy times and overall reduce capacity and causing ground delays during peak times. Especially at airports closer to YYZ, think YOW and YUL here.
If at all possible and of course for many its not always possible, try and avoid departures during peak periods. ie. Departures particularly during the early morning hours, say til 9ish am or so, and if possible try and get your arrival times to get you in before 6ishpm til or after 9 pm. These are only rough guidelines, as many will know when its busy for their particular flights but these tend to be peak times.
Just a heads up, and hope it can help some people

Can you be a bit more specific about the nature of the construction? Is it runways, taxiways? Access roads? Terminal construction/renovation? T1 or T3?

  3. Sorry, it's a combination of all within airport work on taxiways and runways.

You would think that they would do the construction outside of peak hours:rolleyes:......

I just hope delays to departures at around 6:40 AM can be minimized as that's rather important for some (well, one) of us!

Thank goodness I don't often have departures before 9am.

Not to mention the 401 construction a couple miles west of the airport extending the collectors out past the 410 and Hurontario is going to mess up traffic getting to the airport for those coming from that direction.

That one isn't so bad if you're driving past there around 5 am. ;)

Somehow I would have hoped that the airport would work this out with the airlines' schedules so as to minimize delays. I guess that's too much to hope for, though.

I think the early-morning pax will be overwhelmingly business travellers.
