The "capsule-style" rooms (cabins, more accurately) provide affordable accommodations when a basic bed & shower are all that is needed. Not for the claustrophobic! I've stayed twice at the Heathrow T4 location, and their system works - if it meets your needs, it certainly should be considered

They're offering an introductory $149 rate through the summer, inclusive of wi-fi and continental breakfast:

    Located on Times Square West

Reminds me of the capsule hotels in Japan. This is a lot pricier (well it's manhattan :p), but seems much nicer as well! Should be a good place to crash after a night out :D

Ugh... 10th Ave, nothing but tunnel traffic and bad bars. :)

The rate is "reasonable" for the area, but I would have thought it would be cheaper. There was a discussion earlier about Holiday Inn/Express going for a similar rate in the same area... given the choice I'm not sure I'd go with these guys.

The most basic room is only 100 sq ft smaller than my whole apartment. I guess it's all in point of view. :D

it's in the new related building, so it will be nice and shiny, at least for a while.
the rooms did not appear to have much in terms of windows - but i guess you get what you pay for (a capsule?!)

i can take photos of the outside if anyone is interested...

ditto on traffic and bad bars though, especially south of 42nd!

    you can't diss 44&X too much :p

The rooms in NYC look bigger! I've stayed at the Yotel @ London Gatwick and London Heathrow several times. Definitely small, but comfortable and functional!! Pictures from one of my stays in a Premium Cabin at LHR:

travelzoo is offering a $149 promo fare this summer and says the "regular" non-discounted pricing is twice that amount, $299/night. There's just no way I'd ever pay that much for a room there.

    Alright... better late than never

Some photos from today. it's looking closer to completed but not all there yet...
    View of southern wall
Very sun-lit, for all these great windows in the rooms. I am sure the a/c bill would be cheap too :D

South and west walls, main entrance is on 10th av

definitely stands out form the remaining building architecture :D

    Entrance

    Lobby and reflections :)
The patterns around the excavators resemble the wall patterns outside.

I think the yotel certainly beats the shadier establishments in the area (like the hostel by Port Authority!), and i hope they price it so that it makes sense to stay there :D I wouldn't pay more than 150 a night, especially knowing that there are some very reasonable places just a few blocks over, with comparable amenities...

Thanks for posting those excellent pictures, goodandclassy.

Given the location near the Javits Center, my theory (and my fervent hope :D ) is that the $299 rate will be assessed during convention and other high-demand times, and that somewhat lower pricing will be available at other times.

    I sure hope you're right!
every room has to have a rack rate, and 299 does give a lot of room for discounts :D

I went by it in a cab yesterday, and my first thought was, I wonder if there are any windows in the place?

Actually, the ambiance is quite similar to having an interior cabin on a cruise ship.

I've avoided one for a good reason then :) I imagine the yotel would have more of a cool factor... and um, less rocking!

It looks to be a good option for me, since I am paying the yotel rack rate for the Parker Meridien next week. of course the Parker generally gives me a suite. Should I consider the yotel? Maybe, especially if the Central park view, big room and classy amenities get me down. The yotel would keep me from having too much self-satisfaction.

At LHR it does make sense for a long layover. In NYC, you really need some serious warped perspective to pay that price for that location and room.

I would not pay $299 in NYC - I know I can often do better than that....at least I always have up to this point for 3* and up! It is a good option @ LHR - the standard cabins are small and would not work with lots of luggage. The premium one is better, but not tons of space to put stuff.

DL uses it as an arrivals lounge @ LHR, which can be nice when I choose to shower before heading home. :)

Actually, it looks a lot more like a member of London's Wagamama chain.
