I first wrote about WOW Air last October, which is an Icelandic ultra-low cost carrier. They’ve been around for a while offering flights between Iceland and the rest of Europe, though finally launched flights between the US and Iceland as of Spring 2015. They presently fly from Baltimore and Boston to their hub in Reykjavik. While we have some “low cost carriers” in the US, none are to the level of WOW Air, which has super low fares and then charges you for everything, from seat assignments to carry-ons to checked bags. To get a full sense of that, check out WOW Air’s optional fees and charges page. That being said, if you’re traveling light and have crunched the numbers, they can still represent an amazing value. WOW Air has frequently offered fare sales between the US and Iceland/Europe, and they're back with one of their best yet, for travel this winter.
