    Citibank credit cards are increasing in importance in the frequent flyer space. That's because American Express has gotten tighter giving out bonuses (personal cards are one bonus per card type per lifetime) and Chase has gotten tougher with approvals (in general not approving Ultimate Rewards cards unless you've had fewer than 5 new applications in the previous two years, although this doesn't apply to co-brand cards like the United or Hyatt products). At the same time Citibank has gotten aggressive in offering more valuable cards, with bigger bonuses, and points that transfer to a variety of frequent flyer programs.
