    Airfare not included? That's not good. Why would someone want to "win" a vacation to Scotland and than must pony up the airfare?

    I think if you are a golfer it;s a great trip. I've been to Scotland & loved it. I don't like golf so I would probably pass on the prize due to not wanting to pay the taxes.

    Agreed. But so you don't actually win a trip TO Scotland, but rather a trip IN Scotland ;)

    With the proliferation of airline miles many of us have, an excuse to use them + paid everything once on the ground is certainly an attractive offer, particularly for golfers.

    I think that's pretty common - my wife and I are pretty much continuously committed on our available vacation time 6 months to a year out.

    Scotland is somewhere near the top of our list, although not for a golf-centric itinerary. If the ground itinerary proposed worked well for us we'd be happy to rearrange our list and hit up the destination that we could do for free on the ground.
