The view from my "Gold" room at the Palace, SF. Even the cell service was spotty in the center dungeon of the hotel.

Yes, as a Gold I have received a room with the same view at this property. Started to avoid the Palace after that stay-- the Westin Market Street around the corner isn't a great property, but at least all the rooms have decent views.

At least the people on the other side keep their curtains closed, otherwise the view could get pretty scary!

Yet, I bet the people with little to no status are hotter looking than the people with the highest levels of plutonium status. ;)

perhaps if you open the window and stand on the ledge while tweeting they will consider giving you a better room

Nice, it should be a piece of cake then ;). I always look on Tuesday for the starpicks list to come out and also for the rates on SPG.com to be updated. A couple of Aloft's in the DFW are go down to $64 a night which is great price for a mattress run.

The Bay Area has been HORRIBLE this summer. Even the Four Points Emeryville has been either sold out or well well over $100.

Yikes, The bay area can be really expensive. I just spent a night at the Four Points SFO and I think it was $150 pretax and the Hyatt Regency SFO was over $200.

There was the golf thing there in June. 4ps was 200 a night. But I had to be there for a funeral so I just did free night awards.

G - you and are are cut from the opposite end of the clothstone! ;) I was thinking, "hmm, I wonder what we'd see if someone opened their curtains."

I was on the board of a travel-related company for a period of time and our meetings were held in NYC across the street from the Parker Meridien. I can report there that guests did not keep their curtains closed anywhere near as much as they should of.

It kept board attendance high at least. ;)

Will you qualify on stays or nights? If stays, please remember that SPG Plat isn't what it used to be. Expect far fewer significant upgrades and fourth class treatment as a PlatMinus including rudeness.

I think that was an advertising ploy for the Standard Hotel a couple of years ago!

That has not been our experience. Great stays this last week in the Hague and three different properties in Brussels, as well as the Westin SFO.
