Who else has seen the green flash at sunset on a nice clear day over the water?
Numerous times. It's delightful, it's delicious, it is de-lovely.
I've watched for it many times but only managed to see it a few times.
It seems to happen more frequently after one has had an adult beverage or two.
I've often watched for it but never seen it. Maybe, like Cholula implied, I just haven't had enough adult beverages when I was watching.
Still hoping to see it someday also!
My husband is a green flash maniac -- always thinks tonight is the night. I have watched many, many sunsets but have seen the flash only twice. The most recent one was last month at Clearwater Beach, and unfortunately no adult beverages were available at the time.
Funny thing is, the place does not face the Gulf, so it would be kinda hard to see. <--- green smile
I have eaten there, but I have not seen the flash form there.
I read recently that the flash can also occur at sunrise, but that it is more difficult to catch it as the moment is harder to predict. It can also occur over mountains or even on a land based horizon. I have only seen it during sunsets over water.
lol that may be true
I usually head over to the Mucky Duck. They even have a webcam.
I'm going to try harder next time.
I have seen it twice here in San Diego. That is not often and I live and work near the beach.
Several times when I was a kid in St. Croix...we lived up on the mountainside and the sun would set over the water.
