Members with 13.5k posts and 26k likes in one month. Seems unreal and status searching and provides no credibility. Show me how many of those 13.5k posts were useful. IMO a waste of band space.

I'm here to get information & to help others. :) Milepoint is very informative and friendly. I'm not overly concerned with someone with many postings & likes. Some people post alot and others not so much. All of us contribute to Milepoint.

I read multiple sites & blogs for the latest "deal". ;)

Hmmm...it seems that the shelves on the store are a bit bare of happiness today.

The fact is that the number of "likes" someone has is no more or less meaningful than the title "Evangelist" is on FT.

As far as wasting band space is concerned, I have a feeling that is Randy's concern more than it is ours. I don't seem to have a problem with band space, and my computer has never once given me a warning "Do not go to this site. It uses too much band space and will clog up your hard drive."

Are the posts useful? No...and yes. No, a post in a number countdown thread is not, by itself, useful (either on FT or MP). If, however, it encourages as sense of community then it becomes very useful. The MPer (or FTer) who feels that he is part of a community is much more apt to post useful information when he gets it than is someone who feels no connection to the website.

Useful is subjective. So the only way to figure out the number of useful posts TO YOU is you go through them one by one and be the judge for yourself. No one else can answer that for you :)

On the web you should always judge and research the information being presented vs. the person submitting it.
I've seen newbies post very useful content on various sites. I have also seen the FT evangelists title achieved in as little as a few months with a minimal useful content submission. I trust the people on MP and useful content already lives here, amid all the 'likes'.

Do you trust TOBB? It has a number of members with over 10k posts in counting threads. Some of those same members have posted thousands of useful information messages there, and are people whom I consider to have great credibility.

I visit a cad/architectural drawing forum where the off topic section is the second busiest of the ten sections of the site, I don't visit that section, so it doesn't impact me at all.

Bandwidth is cheap. Very cheap. It's not a factor that we should use in judging the usefulness of a site.

You have to understand that people are enjoying themselves also and in this day-and-age that is as important. Content is coming, fun is being had, likes and post count is irrelevant. It is what is posted that matters.

For crying out loud, we all have the choice, nobody is forced to do anything here. All we say are guidelines and share tips and experiences. Some should be grateful for this space instead of criticizing it. If you don't like it, leave it!!!

Yep! It ain't rocket science [IMG]

I think these types of posts and/or posters are just trying to insert negativity among the community. I just laugh about it because unfortunately for them it's not working!

All this meaningless stuff bums me out, too.
But, on the other hand nobody is forcing me to come here and read this stuff.[IMG]
And everytime I post about it, I'm just adding to it![IMG]

I am so ashamed. I've never posted anything of value here or anywhere else on the InterWeb. That does it - no more fun........ ever!

Anyway OP - .... nevermind, I won't mention the typo in the thread title. [IMG]

I look at it this way... There's fun stuff here (jokes, stories, games etc) but they are in off topic, so I'm not sure the issue.

This is a community not just a serious "post nothing but the facts"

I love the community here and I can get serious topics on things that are important to me, rant when something makes me mad and like a post just because it's funny or because it has hard hitting facts and data - or say something silly just because it's funny.

That to me is what a community is all about here, not just the serious side of frequent flyers.

Also the average user is not looking at post counts or likes to determine content - they look at the particular post and garner the info they need from that post, not if someone has 9 million post or not.

I don't understand. How can the fact that someone decides to make 400+ posts a day affect your level of trust in MP?

Personally I don't have the time or energy to invest in making 400 posts a day, but it certainly isn't up to me to dictate what someone else does. If it makes somebody else happy, power to them.

Useful is as useful doesn't. See to me, this post has no use in a frequent flyer community.

Should I tell you you shouldn't be allowed to post this? If I'm not fit to make this determination for you, who are you to tell me?

There is room in this frequent flyer's life for more than one source to enhance my flying experience.
