When are award seats released, when do FFPs allow booking?

    Per gleff's idea, it may be helpful to have in one place the number of dates in advance of travel which airlines release award seats, and also dates in advance of travel which frequent flyer programs allow booking.

    Tool to calculate the date x days before a given travel date
    Link to travel date - 330 days courtesy of timeanddate.com (edit travel date and number of days for your own ones).

    How many days in advance of travel does the airline release award seats?

    Qantas approx 360 days
    Air Canada 355 days
    Alaska 330 days

    Qantas - seats on QF flights are released and QFF awards are bookable approx 360 days before travel date.

    Air Canada - AC releases award seats 355 days prior, I believe

    Alaska releases award seats 330 days out, but allows you to book award seats 360 days out.

    You can book a partner award first 360 days out, and then when Alaska releases their award inventory 330 days out you can call and add the Alaska segments if necessary... They will not ding you any more fees on top of what you already paid for that...
