I just realized I've built up a fairly consistent daily routine for checking points news, etc. I open each of these sites in a new tab and pretty much skim them every morning when I get to work. The list looks long but is actually very quick to get through (yes...I know RSS would probably be faster, but I like it this way:cool: ).
    1. milepoint (of course) - skim updated and new threads in miles/points, US air, UA/CO, SPG, CC and "other asian airline" forums
    2. TOBB - same as above
    3. thepointsguy blog
    4. one mile at a time
    5. view from the wing
    6. million mile secrets
    7. frugal travel guy
    8. frequent miler
    9. mommy points
    10. travelsort blog
    11. loyalty traveler
    12. dan's deals
    13. travel abstract
    14. check awardwallet balances (just started this one yesterday!)
    What's your routine?

As soon as I open my browser, the following tabs open. Funnily all of them are related to points/miles!

    1. Awardwallet
    2. Milepoint
    3. Boardingarea
    4. iGoogle (with feeds from The Points Guy, Million Mile Secrets, Frugal Travel Guy)
    5. TOBB/Mileage Run deals forum
    6. Slickdeals (hot travel deals often get reported there)

The Other Bulletin Board aka FlyerTalk. If you don't know about FlyerTalk, it's not as friendly over there.

It's the place where your question might have resulted in the answer "Use the search function" or "here's a list of 10,000 existing threads that asked the same question" :D

Which in turn means that it takes 10x as long to read a thread and get real information. I was going there almost daily for a while. I can't do it anymore. It's too time consuming for not much more info than is here. And not nearly as pleasant.

Oh goodness, I just counted how many miles/traveling blogs I'm following on Google Reader, and I'm up to 31!

    So:
Google Reader (which I keep open nearly all day)
    AwardWallet (ditto)
and if I have time I pop by here and MilesBuzz.

not the answer. In general several answers that say the same thing but few actually give an answer

I love using Google reader, and I have apps on my phone (Feeds), iPod (Reeder) and TouchPad (TeaReader) so I can check all the blogs I follow no matter where I am, with whatever device I have!

Taking this thread again off-topic (apologies), but it impacts my daily routine: how do you like TeaReader, compared to, say, Reeder (I use that on my iPhone, iPad and MacBook Air). When I initially got my TouchPad, I looked for a good Google-Reader compatible app, but didn't find anything. I'd be happy to pay $1.99 for a decent app. Thanks!

TeaReader is great-- it works well, syncs up perfectly, and looks good on the TouchPad. Well worth the money!

Also, I love that you have a TouchPad too!

Personally, I don't like the approach most news readers have taken. I don't care how many "unread" articles I have. I want to know what's current, and if I'm interested, I'll click on it.

Pulse is the perfect app for the way I read.

I check my email to see if Geo or Beckles has any info for me.

...then I check my Mileage Plus balance to see if Continental messed it up yet.

I have about 40 travel-related blogs in my RSS reader. Maybe it's information overload or I am just getting tired of repetitive stuff, but I have significantly cut back in what I actually read. Pure points and miles blogs are less interesting to me than blogs like Cranky Flier, Things in the Sky, and Wandering Aramean. I think I get a sufficient dose of miles and points right here every day. Am I missing out on the latest twist on earning miles from a shopping portal via a chain of gift cards? Maybe. I think I'll survive :) The good stuff makes it over here... or often starts out here (and FT, of course).
