Wow, here's a terrible admission. I work in broadcast media IT, but I don't have a TV at home. When in the hotel rooms at client sites however I have found myself watching Dhani Tackles the Globe and No Reservations.

Don't really watch much TV (it's mostly background noise for me), but I generally like PBS and their documentaries/shows. They have Globe Trekker, which I find interesting (more so than Rick Steves' countless European travel episodes).

You still can't beat watching people whining and threatening the Southwest staff on Airplane, even in re-runs![IMG]

I love Bizarre Foods. I wouldn't touch most of the stuff, but it is very interesting.

A Cook's Tour. Too bad they're not on anymore.

Close second favorite is Michael Palin's show. Don't think that's made anymore, either.

Man vs Food is my favorite, I always check their web site before I travel to find a local place to get a meal.
While not a travel show, I like House Hunters International on HGTV. It often shows real people looking for housing in real neighborhoods around the globe. Something we usually miss when traveling as a tourist or on business.
The Wandering Golfer was a great show on the Fine Living Network as few years back. It showcased some fantastic golf venues around the world.

Yes! I never thought of Top Gear as a travel show but absolutely a good choice. Their tips on how to properly adorn your vehicle when traveling through the Deep South are invaluable.

But I also have to confess that I'd kill to have Anthony Bourdain's job. [IMG]

I liked Man v. Food when it first came out, but then it got a bit ridiculous. Kind of like the "I Want to Be Liked" thread. [IMG]

I used to like man vs wild but have lost interests after finding out it's all staged and scripted (well I suspected that before but never know for a fact). By the way the new season just start in the US tonight.

I remember the show "Airplane" about Southwest and the counterpart from the BBC about Easyjet. I don't know which show came first. Idiots abound us all!

An Idiot Abroad is my favorite as of late. I liked Rick Steve's the first time I saw it but have grown tired. I try to catch On Surfari on the Fuel Channel as they have shown destinations that I had never even considered.

Ditto House Hunters International. Used to watch Rick Steves' shows but not as interested now.
Thanks for the suggestion about An Idiot Abroad.

Top Gear rocks! Not a huge fan of the American version (found on History channel, I think) but the original is fantastic! Very good one last week when they went from Iraq-Jerusalem.
