I recently booked a flight for my wife and daughter on Aer Lingus (operated by Stobart). When I was booking, I noticed that in their drop-down menu for putting in one's Aer Lingus FF#, one of the other choices was United! I know that there are a few code shares between Aer Lingus and United, but specifically will there be any advantage to having a United FF# in this circumstance? Mileage credit? Upgrades? Does anyone know what the deal is?

Given the operating carrier I'm guessing you get nothing. There are no status benefits to be had and only a handful of routes earn RDMs.

My experience is that you just get mileage credit (but no Premier Qualifying Miles or Dollars).

I suspect this is because I booked a flight through corporate travel, but one of my trips actually had 2 different United flight numbers as the codeshare for a single flight. I never got my mileage credit, and after sending my original boarding documents (yes, this was about 8 years ago) I received a letter back that my mileage request had been denied. I had to call Mileage Plus several times, but eventually got my miles. :) I'm guessing the second flight number may have caused the issue.

    Only on these routes:
    • Between North America and Ireland
    • Between London and Belfast, Cork, Dublin, or Shannon
    • Between Dublin and Birmingham or Manchester

Only the DUB-MAN/BHX routes of these would potentially be operated by the regional arm the OP is flying on.

i had no idea you'd get UA points, i recently used a BA account for my daughter, JFK-DUB-JFK, it was 794 Avios awarded each way.

    you wanna see their answer:
Aer Lingus do not offer the facility to match status to any other programme.
If someone got it please share with us!
