    This leaves out the fact they sometimes will seat people where the entire group isn't there yet so they can make some money off of the bar ... or even send them there.

    and yes we do that often

    But Open Table really puts many restaurants on the radar, or reminds people of restaurants they may have forgotten about. $1 a head, in the long run, is probably a bargain. How many people don't have to be put on hold, can make reservations at all hours, etc. exist because of OT? A lot.
