Simply put what musician or group is your favorite when up in the air? My answer is pictured below.
I'm a huge fan of The Boss, but it depends on my mood. Anything from country to classic rock to alternative. Maybe Jimmy Buffett if I'm headed to the Caribbean!
When I am sleeping on long-haul I like to listen to the different sleep tracks Delta has. Very relaxing!
I suppose if I had to pick just one I'd go with the black keys!
if i don't have my Ipod and i am flying AF, i like listening to Frank Sinatra and Miles Davis (which are part of the IFE list)
if i have my Ipod, i usually listen to more Jazz, more crooners, classical music as well as Amon Tobin and more electronic music.
in a plane i usually like listening to some kind of "relaxing" music
when out of a plane, it goes again from Jazz/classical... to Fantômas/Mr Bungle/Secret Chiefs 3
I usually have iron maiden or rush playing. To me its the right tempo for the airspeed.
K-Pop and Classical..
I mostly listen to live recordings when on a plane. Lately my focus has been on The Band of Heathens, Mogwai, Wilco, 1970-71 era Pink Floyd and a little Grateful Dead.
I usually listed to a playlist that contains the recent downloads from "new music Tuesdays" on the plane, in my hotel room I fall asleep to a mix of vocals, singer songwriters, and a soft rock blend.
I have a huge mix of music on my iphone (mostly rock), but Tiesto's podcasts are my favorite to listen to on the plane. They are mostly dance/electronic mixes and with over 200 1-hour long episodes available I won't be running out of new stuff to listen to any time soon. Best part is they are free on itunes!
I saw Tiesto and deadmau5 at Coachella '10 and i've been hooked since then...nothing like rocking out to Escape Me in a metal tube!
So yeah, electronica (Crystal Castles!) and rock (nothing like Thunderstruck in turblance) .
However,I always listen to two songs as we land: Califronia by Phantom Planet(duh!) and Under the Bridge by Red Hot Chili Peppers(it reminds me of the City of Angels...my hometown)
Lately I've been listening to a lot of Mumford and Sons or Avett Brothers...very relaxing on a plane.
All great choices, M&S puts on fun shows too(I saw them "accidentally" when I was in SEA)
Howwwllinngg for yyoouuuu!
I'm going to act like I haven't seen this How about some Crystal Castles?
I'm a Top 40 junkie, but that extends to today's hits and back to my childhood. So lately it's been Adele and some old school Craig David that I've been enjoying.
I also listen to a few podcasts when I feel like conversation instead of music. My three favorites: Stuff You Missed in History Class, the Japanofiles, and (of course) Upgrd.
Nighttime: Classical soothing music to put me in a state of relaxation conducive to sleep.
Daytime: Light listening music so not to interfere with my reading a book.
I like to listen to live Dead as I can zone out on the jams. Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits is also great for relaxing.
Currently on my MP3 player (recorded from live performances on SiriusXM or the Internet) :
Die Walkure Act One (Met 2011) with Jonas Kaufmann and Eva Marie Westbroek:
Carmen (Met 2010) with Jonas Kaufmann and Kate Aldrich:
Armida (Met 2010) with Renee Fleming and Lawrence Brownlee:
Le Comte Ory (Pesaro 2009) with Yijie Shi and Maria Jose Moreno:
watched a little bit of the Movie "the Band" tonight, reminded me of some of my favs, Eric Clapton, Emmy Lou Harris, and Van Morrison.. just to name a few. Will have to move them up to a favorite playlist for my trip on Monday!
No thanks! I like my K-pop and K-ballad much better than that..
Jazz and musical theater.
Funny, I play Crystal Castles to annoy my friends that like K-pop....hmm,one more datapoint for me!
I will admit, I'm a severe hipster(ie: guy who looks at DL's IFE playlist and ) when it comes to music but I do enjoy my blue eyed soul(KT Tunsall, Lilly Allen, Adele) plus Rolling in the Deep's had some good remixes!
How old are you HAH
2-0. Just kidding. I listen to all kinds of music depending on my mood and no I do not listen to N'Stink.
Just making sure....
Right now on my A-list are The Antlers, Beach House, Jason Isbell, The Civil Wars, The National, Broken Bells, New Pornographers, Drive-By Truckers, Justin Townes Earle, and Wilco. I tend to pop stuff on and off the iPod, but these are the ones jumping out at me right now.
