should you put on a pair of earphones, or is it acceptable to blast it through the RCC for others to hear!

I think as as long as it is a short clip (<1min) and it is not louder than the TV (and appropriate material) it is okay to play it aloud when you are in public place like an airport where others are talking on their phones, etc. Of course headphones would be more courteous.

only appropriate if it is a video of Rick Astley's" Never gonna give you up" or Zonday's "Chocolate Rain"

Rarely an excuse not to use headphones. Rude otherwise.

Only with earphones, anything else is usually an irritation to others.

Depending upon who is around you that could be the sole point of the exercise.

    I agree. you need headphones

Though I think many people talking on their cell phones need a hearing test done. they yell louder than a small child without ice cream

Yeah I know I would be annoyed.. there's enough noise outside the lounge.

The exception is of course if it's a vid from TED.com, then people need to hear it IMHO :)

Nobody should know you are watching Youtube- that should pretty well take care of the problem

IMO: Blasting audio out to the world defines an individual as either a "Tool", just plane clueless, or just so needy for attention you don't give a care to how you are polluting the world around you. These are the same folk that will hold a full conversation using a push-to-talk mode on a phone when a simple press of a button would transform their dialog interchange to their headset and microphone, saving the world the glory of the mundane details of their thoughts about topics the would would be better not to be a involuntary participant in. If you need to draw attention to yourself please do it someplace other than a RCC where most seasoned travelers sitting around you just want a few golden moments to relax in a comfortable seat, without the the noises and distractions imposed on them by a laptop sound system blasting from the seat next door.

Invest in a set of speakers to pop in your ear holes and save the world what YOU think is entertaining.

    To quote: http://txfx.net/2005/10/28/beep-beep-yo-where-you-at/
"...Let me break it down for you losers (who seem to be predominantly male): you’re not a policeman. You’re not a fireman. You’re not even a freaking construction site supervisor. You have no need for a walkie-talkie that broadcasts each transmission for all to hear. Not only are you an unimportant person, you’re a whole evolutionary generation behind the average annoying cell phone user. You are the pinnacle of banality, and yet you think your mind-numbing tripe is actually worthy of public broadcast.

Carrying such a device marks you as a moron. It is automatically indicative of both a sub-100 I.Q. and a false sense of self-importance. Of course, the sort of people who use such hellish devices are probably not computer users. Most of the people whom I have approach weren’t even aware that they could turn the beeps and the extra-loud volume off and, you know, use their cell phone like a bleeding cell phone."

You'll be happy to hear that Sprint will be phasing out Nextel PTT in a few years. ;)

    The answer is:

You have to blast it through your earphones loud enough so that even with them in your ear, all of your neighbors can hear it.

Sorry, couldn't resist. At least it wasn't bieber.
But back to the point...there are actual Rebecca Black fans out there. Ok, they might not be at an RCC, but you get the point; I may not like what you're listening to...so out of respect of others, for heavens sake, use heaphones :D

Is trying to leave a boring sales meeting, wearing tap shoes, a really bad idea?

    headphones please. :)
And thanks for asking. Courtesy is always the MOST appropriate thing to do.

People talking loudly on their cell phones is getting worse I think.
The little no cell phones signs are often totally ignored.

My two hockey pucks say headphones or a bluetooth earpiece (and n.b. depending on your bluetooth earpiece, it may be able to be paired with more than one device so you can use it for your cell as normal and for you computer thus eliminating the need for pulling out your pair of headphones [tho onboard an a/c you'll need to/should use your wired headphones)

    Another vote for headphones.

FWIW, I've seen two different guys over two separate times watching pr0n in the RCC (with headphones on). Just made sure I saw both of their hands.

On a related note, given a set of Bose QC-15s...is it rude to be watching pr0n on the bulkhead with a portable projector?
