What is the best transfer option to airlines from SPG if I want to go to Europe?
Where do you live and where in Europe do you want to go?
Chicago to Italy Rome and Venice specifically
I'd have to say that the best transfer option would be US Air. SPG Transfers at a 1:1 ratio and US Air offers off-peak trips to Europe at 35k. Plus their fees for partner airlines are light.
Thanks. But isn't us airways like terrible? I always hear complaints. I saw Alitalia has business class for 40k...any comments?
Beware of the fuel surcharges with all of the European carriers. You should definitely check on what those would be before you actually do the transfer. Sometimes they can be quite a shock.
If you'd rather spend points than $, you could transfer to Delta and book award seats on Alitalia (or AF/KLM). You'll have to call to do it, and searching for the open seats will be tricky, but people here can give plenty of help with that. DL would be 100k round trip in business from US-EU, and all the other fees won't be more than $200 or so per ticket, compared to some fuel surcharges of $500+ on european carriers.
Great point...so I think I will just use the SPG points for hotels...
