    hi MP friends
i dropped my Sky Club membership though i can get in before an international flight.

i have several domestic flights coming up and was wondering the correct protocol / if any,
to employ, to determine if anyone on MP might guest me in if they are flying on the same day.
    namaste
    thank you

I am not a club member, have not ever invested in a club membership, but would also not ever impose on anyone else's investment. Maybe I'm too old school, but I would not ask. If it were important to me to wait in a club prior to a flight I would buy the membership.

Thank you for taking the time to share your
Opinion. I asked because I noticed other people have
Asked , real time in the flight lounge forums
But wanted opinions to avoid a faux-pas

If you have a DL AmEx you can buy a single SC admission for $25 at the door. Otherwise you can buy a day pass during OLCI, IIRC $50 but (sometimes?) discounted to $40.

There are threads, calendars, and perhaps fora on TOBB
dedicated to sharing the airline lounge wealth. I have
inquired (it never worked out that I can recall) and have
guested dozens of FTers into clubs. I guess that ella's
post shows, though, that there's no unanimity regarding
    the propriety of this.

You might check out this thread if you can't find someone to walk you in.

I believe you guested me in when we were in CLE in March. I was prepared to pay my own way.

It's one thing if you're in a group of people, and another if you're a total stranger.

I don't think a total stranger is a negative unless the one who is being guested has no plans to spend time with the guester. Easy enough to manage this on the front end.

Back when I did have club memberships, I thought nothing of guesting a fellow FTer (who I didn't know) with the idea of having a beverage & sharing some travel stories or other topics.

Yeah, that was implied but not stated in my comment. Obviously, if someone's an FTer or MPer or some like-minded person you just met, that's all different. I'd always guest in a fellow community member.

If it were me, I'd be totally fine guesting a stranger whether we were going to chat it up or he/she was going to hang out on their own. If I'm not using the perk on a friend, it might as well be used on someone. But, if I were offered the opportunity to be guested in I would be quite grateful, and would want to spend some time talking travel, etc. with whoever guested me in.

Neighborliness is the upside; the downside is
if everybody does it, everybody will be doing it.
You know, competition for scarce resources,
that sort of thing. Some of the clubs are already
being stretched to the absurd point.

    Sigh
Many different personalities and of course
    Different perspectives
I guess it boils down to
Those who share when able, and those
    Who do not.
I believe in the concept of
"pay it forward" and when I was a formal
    Member I shared......
    I embrace and celebrate
    diversity of thinking
And will continue to be a "giver" ( as part of my basic
Nature , ) because it brings me joy and creates
    Joy for others :)
    Thank you ALL!!!

Hey I am as generous as anybody, but after a guy (total stranger) saw me entering the MIA Admiral Club and asked me to guest him which I did .. I saw him zipping around place at top speed and then he had the balls to come back and tell me (in a pretty loud disgusted tone I might add) " it wasnt worth it ....there was no decent food"
It will be a cold day in hell before I again consider guesting a stranger into the club.

I personally would have no problem guesting someone in as there is no cost to me, and this world would be a better place if we all helped each other out once in a while.

I find that some of the clubs are absurd in the lack of amenities they offer, however anything if better than sitting at the gate.

I hope that one idiot will not spoil the chance for someone else to experience the kindness you showed a fellow traveler.

I am sorry you had a bad experience :( i doubt he was a member of FT or MP....)
would you consider an unknown MP or FT a complete stranger or do you think a FT or MP might be in a different category?
    :(((((
