No political or religious threads. Long may it last.
There a are enough of them in other forums. Maybe they will stay away.
So far there's also been a lot less "Flaming" of new posters, but I imagine this could change eventually when more new members are brought in on March 1.
I like the more friendly atmosphere.
The key is to keep them out at the very beginning, Once those types of posts are let in, a precedent is set and it's difficult to backtrack.
"Keeping them out" would be against the spirit of openness that this place already seems to have.
I know it's hard, but those who have no desire to participate in those threads (once they happen, and they will) should simply stay away from them.
Once this place is formally open and announced, I expect the number of members will grow very quickly.
I like the friendly atmosphere as well. And I think it's possible...maybe not probable but possible....to keep this atmosphere going indefinitely.
I really enjoy the welcoming atmosphere. I do hope it stays this way. Since I'm not a business traveler, on FT I always feel I have nothing to contribute. Hopefully I will be able to add something here.
I won't miss the political threads, that's for sure. I don't mind them so much as long as they are quarantined somewhere easily avoided.
The easiest way to stop the political threads is for no one to post in them.
Sure, if Obama would stop regulating travel boards and the Christians and Jews would moderate their participation.

Long may the friendly peace last ....
Yes, the low- to no-flaming is what I like best. Maybe we are living in a bubble at the moment, and it will change with the launch, but I'm lovin' it for now.
What is nice about the forum beside the lack of political threads is that it is like a few friends have got together for a chat, most of us know each other either through meet ups or reading their posts in the past. As the forum grows then we loose a bit of the close nit community we have here at the moment.
I get enough politics at work. I'm in DC. I don't come onto Milepoint to do politics.
(Why do I just know I'm gonna wind up eatin' those words...? )
Don't worry, I can bring my platter with me when I'm up that way next weekend. Words are much tastier on a silver platter
What?! No campaigning for the mileage guros or praying to the points gods?
Did not take long to have first politically motivated post. Soon there will be thread, anyone going to bet on it?
