A diamond colleague has redeemed a suite UG for a stay in April. He gets demoted to platinum on 2/29.

Anyone know what happens to the upgraded room upon demotion?

By the way, Platinums even get confirmed suite upgrades as part of the signup bonus when they acquire a Hyatt Visa from Chase..

Since this thread is about Losing Diamond status, keep in mind that Diamonds at the time of application/approval (not sure which) get two confirmed free suite nights (not upgrades). These remain in your account for use even after you lose Diamond and become a platinum (a benefit of having the card).

Of course, YMMV. But I can confirm that this was the case back in October 2011. I'll also mention that if you call Chase and ask for the promo terms, they'll tell you that you get the two free suite upgrades, but when they show up on hyatt.com, they'll be the correct free certs instead of upgrades.

My point was that suite upgrades aren't something that only Diamonds can have/use, and that notion might make someone more comfortable with the idea that losing Diamond won't mean losing a confirmed upgrade.

do suite upgrades assure one of access to a Regency Club if present at the property?

Like the OP's colleague, I'm dropping from Diamond to Plat and would like to book a couple of reservations using the suite upgrades I currently have in my account.

My assumption is no, it does not include access to a Regency Club unless that specific suite automatically grants access.

and as a result, I'll call the properties that I'm considering to make sure RC club access will be 'part of the deal' upon using a suite upgrade.

Quick solution to find out an answer ;) Better to email a property. You will have a written response just in case :D

Or you can check out the property's website. I find these things are usually listed in the 'room description' section :)
