At about September of last year there was a move by AC to serve meals in domestic J with a table cloth. My understanding is that this was only to happen on domestic flights that were over 3(?) hours in length. I've had service with this about 10 times since the announcement, but the chances of getting it seem to be zero at this point. It was nothing overly special since the table cloth was just a cloth napkin, but it was a service differentiator in my mind. Has anyone heard what's going on with this?

Did not know about this initiative. The one domestic flight I took this year where a meal would have been served and > 3 hours I slept the total flight so no help to you there.

Not sure if this thread is still relevant, but I was uploading my photos onto FB and one of my shots reminded me of this thread. This was AC 737 YYZ-SFO on January 9, 2011 (not sure about now anymore though....). Got a tablecloth with my breakfast.

I talked with the SD on my Friday flight and asked where this had gone. He said that it was cut due to the increase in laundry costs.

Is my memory playing tricks with me? I travelled from YVR>YYZ in J on 25 May and I distinctly recall that there was a tablecloth. I travelled in one of the pods, if that's somehow relevant here.

Were you in a pod for that journey, then?

Nope, it was an A320, regular domestic business class seat.
