what do the average traveler thinks about Global Services ?

    Hi every one,

    I am new member to Mile point I am coming over from Flyer talk,

    as a united global services when they call to board of course we always come forward ahead of group 1 there has been several times in which i have heard some negative comments specially when the agents call me by name to come forward, what do others with lower status think of us ?

    Don't think much of anything except you must be spending big bucks. People will make negative comments about silly things, especially without facts. Reminds me of pre-check line at PDX one time. I'm the only one in the line but we're all waiting while the clerk takes his sweet time dealing with 1 person. 3-5 minutes of waiting while subjected to snarky comments from the regular line since they all think I'm jumping the line.

    Just ignore and enjoy your early boarding privileges.

    You have earned the privilege. I just wish they would give you a separate path to the door rather than running you through the gauntlet of the riff-raff in BG1.

    I usually think, "Thank God I'm not you!" No offense- just happy not to have to travel that much.

    For me, I have several thoughts
    1. If you are wearing a keffiyeh, then why in the world are you flying UA?? :eek::D. (Actually, I would think that money is probably not a travel hindrance to you ;))
    2. You are a member of some large, powerful corporation that spends huge sums of money on travel with UA and gets their traveling employees GS as part of the deal. (I wish I were so lucky).
    3. You are a member of a medium or large corporation that has attained such a professional level of achievement that the company recognizes your time value by spending for J and F fares so you are productive from the get-go when you reach your destination (but haven't yet attained that cherished level of using the corporate jet.)
    4. You are so darn rich that ticket prices don't mean anything to you (variant of #1)

    Actually, it is great that you attained GS. I suspect that 90% of most travelers have no idea what it means other than you get to board first. Congrats and welcome.

    I think there is general resentment about the fact that air travel has become hierarchical. Honestly I don't think most people care about GS, since they likely don't experience GS travelers swimming up the line for Boarding Group 1. For frequent travelers, I think there is resentment. One only need look at this and other boards : threads about badly behaving passengers of various status; "why didn't I get upgraded etc."

    Too bad that UA can't think of a nicer name than Global Services, when I think of Global Services I think of a cargo forwarding service. There must be a better name than that.

    Anyone who spent that much to be the top of the customer pool deserves to be treated well.
    Does not matter whose money was spent.
    United gets the money, the customer gets showered with love.
    Enjoy your status.

    Remember, air travel is not a basic need and should never be.
    As such, it is only natural for airlines to treat the top spenders better.

    Just wish that they do not mistreat the "lower" spenders.

    As for my view towards GS and all other top elites on the various airlines... I do envy your status but I will never spend that much of my own (or even my employers) money to attain the said status. At least not in my current job or industry. Still, I will repeat that I think you should enjoy the perk you earned.
