I have a business trip coming up that requires me to fly to Minneapolis on a Monday. I'm considering flying on Sunday afternoon instead to have some extra time to explore. I'd have Sunday evening and the majority of Monday to see/do things in Minneapolis area.

So, what is there to do in Minneapolis? This will be in late July.

MN is the land of 10,000 lakes, so if you are the active type, go for a jog or good walk around one of the many beautiful parks the twin cities have to offer.

Take in an outdoor concert, the Zoo & Lake Harriet are two places that I know of that have regular concerts.

If you are a shopper, Mall of America

Take a ride on the river: www.riverrides.com

I don't think the iconic, live radio broadcasts of A Prairie Home Companion (Garrison Keillor) is playing in July but it might be. Check out Fitzgerald Theater if interested.

a good neapolitan pizza place I've been to a number of times with more than a few locations: www.punchpizza.com Had a very good breakfast at Hell's Kitchen www.hellskitcheninc.com

Will you be downtown? Then go to the Stone Arch Bridge and the little old museum at the lock. I also like Mill City Museum. Explore the architecture and views from the new Guthrie. If you like art, go to the Walker (closed Monday) and sculpture garden or (not downtown and also closed Monday) the Russian Art Museum (better with a rental car). Go to the Dakota for live jazz. Eat well.

    excellent suggestions all around.

A good friend of mine runs the original Highland Park location of Punch. The commitment to top quality throughout the organization is impressive, and it shows in the pizza. We took an Italian there on business this week, and he was sure to grab a menu on the way out to remember punch in the future.

I really should have more suggestions, but most of mine have been given. Uptown and the various lakes and parks are pleasant as well.

If you are into music/clubs at all, FIRST AVENUE is legendary. They have live shows all the time.

Don't forget to see the Mary Tyler Moore statue in front of Macy's downtown, on Nicollet Avenue at about 8th Street.

This just came up at work today, and a great suggestion that came out was the Rembrandt exhibition currently at the Minneapolis Institute of arts. If you're interested in art it would be a great option.

best thing to do on a business trip with some time spare: us our site and connect with others flying to the same destination. without trying to promote our site too much, i believe that there's a huge potential to connect with people who may just end up being new business partners or (even better) customers...

Thanks all for the suggestions. I'm a sucker for good pizza so I'll definitely head there. I plan to explore downtown and a couple of the lakes/parks as well.

Already changed my hotel reservation to Park Plaza! I was very excited when that came out and saw I'd be able to take advantage of it on a business trip.
