Are you resigned to the possible fate that it may never come forth? Are you waiting expectantly? Are you going on with your life and checking in now and then? Do you keep refreshing the web page? Or are you out and about, enjoying life, taking part in festivities, traveling, and so forth? Are you making the world a better place? Helping others? (Remember KIVA!!!) What ever you are doing, remember the words of Teddy Roosevelt: "Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat."
I'll start - I am getting ready for a dive trip to Aruba in a few weeks. Cleaning and testing gear, getting my u/w camera equipment all set as well as getting some amateur radio together as I just obtained an Aruba license. And I check on P3 updates on a regular basis.
If it satisfies your needs, that's fine. But looking at the homepage, this is the list of new threads created in the last 24 hrs. And threads like this make Milepoint into the Seinfeld of the travel web...
We could debate the relative merits of each site ad nauseum. I think MilePoint is, for lack of a better word, more cordial. I don't see the snarkiness, ridiculing, sometimes anger that is reflected on the other site. I feel questions can be asked here without someone pouncing on to ridicule the poster for a variety of nonsense reasons. Is there a greater depth there? Sure. But depth doesn't equate to quality. YMMV
Perhaps that's just because there is nothing to be snarky about here? </snark> I don't disagree with you about the relative friendliness (though it really depends on the forum on FT). But frankly, I am not looking just for friendly chats about nothing. My point, though, is: if people here don't make a concerted effort to make this a useful (and friendly place), it's going to die as a travel discussion site.
OMG!! How did I miss this thread?? Anyway, I would just like to say that while there had been lots of unrelated posts on threads, I found this place to be a more relaxing and friendly place than other forums. As for useful information, well it involves a lot of weeding on my part but every once in a while I'll find some gems in the unrelated posts. Back to topic. Been working and flying and Hilton-ing around. And FSX. Like landing an A380 at Lukla and flying the Space Shuttle on EWR-SIN to help SQ explore the possibility of shortening their longest flight.
