Last December, I purchased a BUR-DFW-ATL-DFW-BUR ticket for mid-March. Obviously, I knew I would be re-routed after AA announced the closing of my all time favorite airport, BUR. I assumed they would contact me and offer me some options but instead, I received an email from AA with my new routings!

What options do I have since I did not agree to these new routings. The ticket was purchased as a non-refundable... would it be possible to change the routing to something more desirable or possibly get a refund for the purchase price?

Both are options. Best to contact AA ASAP. If you have a preferred routing, let them know -- when changes like this happen you have a lot of flexibility barring you being completely unreasonable; worst case, you will be able to cancel and get a refund. The sooner you contact them, the better likelihood of you getting what you want.

Good news...contacted AA and they honored a date change/flight change on both outbound and inbound and matched the price to the existing ticket!

AA's traffic to BUR isn't being reduced even more, it's being eliminated completely; the station is closing altogether.

I meant the airports traffic as a whole. I'm an ATC and our pay partly based on the level airport we work at, that airport level is based on how busy (traffic) the airport is. So with AA pulling out that 7.5% could hurt them.

Gotcha--I read it that you were an AA/AMR employee. :)
