Checked in yesterday for a two nights stay with my family. Booked a Deluxe room and was upgraded to a Premier Sea View room on checkin. SPG Gold status was recognized and got the welcome amenity as well as the 4pm check out on Monday. Room was huge and 2 double beds is definitely not common in Singapore. Allows one parent to sleep with 1 child in relative comfort. Bathtub is large and deep and looks very tempting. More reports to follow.

Is the Westin new? Where is it located? I know the Sheraton off Orchard Road, and W on Sentosa, but wasn't aware that there is a Westin

IIRC it opened in November in a new office and residential area. It's walking distance to Chinatown and very close to Satay Street (next to the historic hawker center that's been closed for renovation). There's also a new subway stop (called Downtown???) almost at the corner.

When I stayed in January, elite recognition seemed bad. They tried to charge a Plat for a late checkout and said that they could only do 2 pm.

Pool has a fantastic view. My kids had a wonderful time. That said, they have just been greatly disappointed as we did not manage to get a table for the Seasonal Tastes at the Westin. We so wanted to try out the buffet. Mistake to assume that no reservations are required... :(

Well, we tried to shop around for a decent lunch around the hotel but nothing struck our fancy. As we slowly found ourselves headed back towards Westin, we decided to try our luck at Seasonal Tastes again before ordering room service... As luck would have it, a group booking of 25 had cancelled and we managed to get a table afterall. The spread was nothing fanciful, a little anti-climax given the rave online blog about the place but the convenience of dining at the hotel and having the bill added to the folio made up for the lack in spread.

Seems like this has been addressed and they are well aware of the program now. Even the restaurant was familiar with the discount and program.

Yeah... received a welcome email after signing up in late April this year...
Since then, made 2 stays at Sheraton and then Westin to claim the whole 4,000 (1,500 + 2,500) welcome points.

well, my family did something similar last year, wife had a new SPG account with something like 4000 bonus points after 1 stay, so we stayed at St Regis Singapore for a night to celebrate a birthday, used a World Mastercard to settle the room charge, and wife is still Gold status now, plus had a successful BRG rate at St Regis, so it worked well on that occasion..:p
