I had a recent two night stay at the Westin Paris Vendome during the recent G20 meetings. The hotel is in a great location right off of Place Vendome and by the Jardin des Tuileries and a very short walk from the Louvre. The hotel is very elegant and not cheap even by Parisian standards (at least during this time period). Two minor complaints about the hotel: tiny room (even by European standards) and paper thin walls. You can hear everything.... even a conversation not with raised voices.

Internet was approx 19 Euros a day, but that's pretty common for Paris I think in the big chain hotels. I usually prefer the Intercontinental Grand in Paris but it's always good to try new places. The hotel ballroom was amazing, and reminded me of the Versailles palace. I recommend this hotel to people.

We had a nice stay there last October. No Platinum upgrade was available, but we were given coupons for several free drinks in the hotel bar (which we never redeemed). The service otherwise was fine. The room was small, but not ridiculously so, and we didn't mind the size at all. The location really is hard to beat, and I'd gladly stay there again.

Had a nice stay there last month, Platinum upgrade was done prior to check in, no coupons for anything though. Very nice hotel and service was good. Great location in Paris close to all the sites and action.

I have stayed there only once but will do so again. The internet, free for Plat, was fast and solid, the upgrade was nice. Cannot complain.

I stayed here twice - first time, no upgrade, but on the 2nd stay was upgraded to a nice Junior Suite. The location is perfect, but the night I stayed (in the Summer), I could hear all the scream from people on the amusement park in Tuilleries garden, which is right across the street from the hotel. Even with the windows shut, the noise was annoying, especially it went on until about midnight.

This is a very old (ex Inter-Continental) hotel that has great varieties of room types. Location is wonderful and service adequate for such a large hotel. Compared to Prince des Galles, I'd give this one a slight edge. That is until PDG finishes its renovation, which is supposed to happen soon.

Can someone who has stayed both here and at the Park Hyatt Vendome please compare the 2 for me?. I have both Hyatt Diamond and SPG Plat, so the complimentary breakfast at PH is certainly a plus. Are upgrades common for Plats at the Westin?

I just got back from an 8 night stay at the Westin Paris-Vendome. I am only SPG Gold, but I booked a Jr. Suite for the entire stay. It was quite a large room. I didn't request too many extras so only really wanted the larger space as I was there for a week. Not sure how to compare to the PH Paris since I have never stayed there, but it seems like the PH Paris is generally considered one of the finest hotels Paris has to offer. If I could afford both and had the opportunity I would probably look at the PH Paris as a first choice.

I am both GP Diamond and SPG Plat and in a heartbeat, I'd choose Park Hyatt. No doubt.

They're not in the same league -- PH is a luxury, 5 star more intimate hotel with great service and F&B. Westin is more like a large, 4 star hotel with hit/miss service.

Even if I got the smallest non-upgraded room at Park Hyatt, I'd be happier there than in a suite at Westin.

It's really not a knock on the Westin for us to agree that the Park Hyatt is far better. It is also far more expensive. Would you ask us to compare the W Lexington Avenue in NYC to the Four Season or the Ritz Carlton - pretty much the same difference.

The Westin is a solid, large hotel. The Park Hyatt is heaven. Period! I'm Platinum with SPG and Diamond with Hyatt. That gives me free breakfast at the PH, which last time, went for 48 Euro per person! But even without status, I would choose the PH but again, much, much more costly.

The Westin is the former InterContinental (not the IC LeGrande).

Decent hotel, not stellar though. Same neighborhood as, but different league from, the Park Hyatt.

Do they give free breakfast for platinum ??? I think there is no lounge at this hotel... The upgrade to a Junior Suite for platinum member is not bad at all.

That's a great price, but the dates are limited. Unfortunately, for me, the days I am in Paris are not on the list. :(

    • $275 per night: July 29 - Aug. 25; Oct. 21-31; Nov. 4-6, 11-13; Nov. 25 - Dec. 28
    • $299 per night: June 16-17; July 5, 9, 10, 13, 14, 20, 25-28; Aug. 31 - Sept. 7

Seems like I've seen reports that there is only wired Internet access in the rooms; is that correct?

They are working on getting wifi in the rooms; however, it is proving to be a more difficult task than first imagined. Still, it's in the works for the future.

I just returned from the Westin and they do have wireless in the room. I connected well with my laptop but had problem with my iPad. I later found that I could only connect one computer at a time. Later I did connect two but also showed two charges on my bill, which was later corrected. This particular room did Not have Ethernet the same line was used for the TV.

We just had a 6 night stay at this property and have to say I was not overly impressed with the property. Don't get me wrong, I would stay there again if I had to, but it would not be at the top of my list.

We were on cash and points and our first allocated room was the Superior room. It was tiny, there was not even adequate space for us to have one of our two suitcases open and there was nowhere to put them if we unpacked them. Add in, we asked for a quiet room and we were placed in a room next to the elevator, which dinged every time it stopped on the floor. DH went downstairs and asked for something different, we paid 30 euros per night to upgrade to a Deluxe room. For the size it was worth every euro. However they then moved us to a noise room near Rue Rivoli. We lasted in that room for 2 days before being moved again to a courtyard room.

For me a the difference between a great hotel and an adequate one comes down to the details. Towels in this hotel were certainly not soft and fluffy, they would not make the cut in my household. The cleaning carts remained in the hallways 24/7. Dirty glasses and plates sat in the hallways for hours. The floor lamp in the room didn't work. Staff seemed largely absent in this property. I can only compare this stay to previous Westin stays at Madrid and Sydney. There was never as much as a door opened, a friendly hello from staff except for the cleaning staff. I used the hotel supplied toiletries, they must ration them at this hotel as even when I left out the empty body lotion bottle it was not replaced and though we were down to a sliver of soap in the bath a new bar was not forthcoming. Internal noise was not too bad, usually all we heard was cleaners chatting outside in the hallways.

    Overall I was totally underwhelmed.
