Property has been bought by RIU
    source: http://themorningnewsaruba.com/loca...government-they-will-purchase-westin-resort/\

We were just in Aruba a week ago, we walked through a number of the resorts, RIU & Westin among them. (others were Marriott, Hyatt, Ritz, Radisson)

Unless the rooms were something quite special, the Westin is indeed in need of a remodel. We thought the grounds/pool/lobby area at the Westin were nothing special at all. That said, it will be sad to lose SPG presence on Aruba.

Of all the hotels we toured, Radisson had by far the best pool grounds, nice & wide with lots of private nooks so that it didn't feel as crowded as it was.

Thanks for the timely info @Sweet Willie. Indeed, RIU grows again and bought the Westin. We will see how SPG wants to pursue a presence in Aruba.

Seems that means they'll be keeping the Westin branding.

Could be, but I don't interpret it as any indication one way or the other.
