Just wanted to be the first to post.
I'll be flying Narita-Perth in a couple of weeks on QF80 in Economy (boo) with lounge access through US Airways...
Any tips or advice?
Try to get an upgrade?
... or at least an aisle seat ... guess you won't have much chance of an exit row?
How do you have lounge access through US Airways? Are they a partner?
I'll be on SYD-ZQN soon.
Y class was ca €600 whereas C would have been €1950....
C pricing seems outrageous ? What's going on there, especially as the flight is on a 737.
Does seem a little excessive.... even non-sale fare is usually less than half that I think
ETA: Looking at your BA97 calendar... isn't that flight on NZ, not QF?
Oops, need to update ba97...
I changed my mind last minute and booked QF instead of NZ.
How does US give lounge access when flying QF?
Where did you book that through? qantas.com.au?
No, via a TA as part of a FRA-ATH-DXB-SYD-ZQN-MEL-SIN-DXB-ATH-DUS ticket.
LH to ATH is ca eur 400, EK F to SYD is Eur 2700, QF is ca Eur 600 in Y.
It's all on one PNR - which is pretty good for protection.
Okay that explains why so expensive. If bought as separate ticket it would be more like A$300 o/w in Y. Quite expensive protection.
But would C have been any cheaper?
On the way back home we have 01:50 in MEL and I'm not sure if QF will check bags through to EK?
That's why I thought it would be best to keep it on one PNR?
Yes normal C fare ex-Oz is a lot cheaper than you quoted. Even cheaper still during a sale or ex-NZ (eg currently NZ$849 o/w)
Clearly you don't need an upgrade.
Ah, sorry. Managed to get myself completely confused (again). We'll have lounge access through being JAL Global Club Sapphire...
The US Airways access is for my ANA/Star Alliance MRs this year. Sorry for the confusion!
Is there any way to get an upgrade using JAL miles, for example, or are we stuck in economy? (we're booked in V)
No. The only ways to upgrade on Qantas is using Qantas points, or by paying fare difference to upgrade.
Qantas give upgrades even to their platinum members keep dreaming.
Welcome to QF009, Kiwi, Wijomas, the others I have no idea who you lot are, and how can I be cool like Wijomas with the Original Member moniker.
Original member will come to those who contribute during the beta phase.
Ahh this place feels rather nice...
Unless anything has changed dramatically, don't bother with upgrades - the route had been pretty empty the last couple of times I flew. Last time QF rang me 2 days beforehand and offered an upgrade on points (impressive given it was an award booking) and I said no, ended up with 3 seats to myself at bulkhead and I believe there were plenty of rows of 3 free further back to stretch out on. Plus it was an old plane (can't remember what.... sorry) and only reclining business seats, no skybed. I don't recall if it was a late change of metal but I don't think it was. Certainly I remember thinking I was much better off in economy!
It is fair to say that Narita-Perth doesn't have the newest planes with all the mod-cons. Not that there's anything wrong with mainscreen IFE in this day and age.
It's very 'Web 2.0', or the 'naughties'
Might need to play around with the themes (does it have themes like other places around do? )
Themes - not yet.
According to another post by Randy Peterson himself the base design logo/ layout is still in flux while the site is in beta.
but I agree... at the moment its a damm good starting point.
