We are now on our FIFTH snow day in less then ten days here in DFW. Snow day as in work closed, schools closed, and the multiple steep steps covered in ice to get to my front door (and my 30 degree incline driveway) make it all but impossible to get out.

I'm stuck at home alone - again. And think I may have exhausted all interesting ideas of how to not go crazy.

So - what do you guys in uber-winter climates do when you are trapped in your house for long stretches of time? Help me stay entertained....

Yeah, snow plows are nonexistent here. And the cities are pretty well out of deicing/sanding supplies, having used up the hoard last week to host the Super Bowl.

De-clutter. Not that exciting, but it's hard to find the time to do it otherwise. I typically end up with a few big bags of clothes and stuff to donate (where does all this stuff come from anyway??).

  6. Feels colder today than it was last week.
    Re-organize your wine wall?
Curse because the damn city probably won't pickup the trash for the second week in a row?

Thinking about brushing off the truck. I've got a Jimmy Johns or Which Wich craving...

I'd suggest getting on a flight to ORD: it has stopped snowing here. :D

    Yes... much colder!
I do need to reorganize wine - good idea!
My trash and recycle got picked up yesterday - my yard cart did not. Again.
If you are going to Which Wich, will you deliver to me?
And on that note, see my FB post about the dinner at Lanny's tonight... mmmmmmm!

Well I had two snowdays last week in the morning I watched a couple of movies on netflix and then called a couple of friends in sunny FL to talk about the nice weather there. Seriously now I read a book that I wanted to finish for a while and cleaned the condo.

i find it's a very good time to catch up with what's on my dvr. :D

also, it's a particularly good time to book some travel, preferably to a part of the world that isn't currently snowy.

we're expecting 'just an inch or so' tomorrow, and i'm thinking there's housecleaning in my future.

I did a lot of this last week... entire seasons of shows that I hadn't watched yet! It looks like the salt is working on my driveway so I think I can get down it to go to work tomorrow. I'm actually very excited by that!

isn't that weird?! i know just what you mean, after our last big snow i was out walking while the snow plow came by (two days later) and i was so excited, waving and smiling at him like he was a conquering hero...which, in a sense, he was.

I get it, totally! In Texas, we are used to bad weather but its usually in the form of storms, floods, famine, and Jerry Jones (um, I mean pestilence). This snow and ice thing I'm used to when traveling... not using to having it keep me stuck in my house.

And my poor heater, which I rarely run normally, has been running with its tongue hanging out - it has stopped blowing hot air twice from overwork. *sigh*

Live on the east coast and there is literally a 11 foot snowbank in front of my house right now. Just finished snowblowing my driveway again (9th time this season). What do I do when I'm not doing that/working: well... this, I guess.[IMG]

    TG,
Don't let 5" of snow get you down. Once we dig out up in the NY Metro area (5" or 20"), we all go out and shop, eat, drive around and look for snowmen... and then grab a hot chocolate.
