So it appears that AP has put in a voice recognition system now. This was on the SE phone number, but I expect they'll all be the same.
    "For English, say English."
"I think you said English. If this is correct, say yes."
    "Now say your Aeroplan number."
"I think you said 123456789. If this is correct, say yes."
    "Are you the member?"
"I think you said yes. If this is correct, say yes."
    (...)

Who on earth designed this and actually thought this was quicker or easier to use should be forced to use this system every day for the next year. Me, I'll be looking for shortcuts to avoid two minutes of talking to a dumb voice recognition system every time, especially when there is significant background noise.

I was using another airline system that went into an infinte loop on several calls, not fun.
I wish they would abolish these systems. :(

I loathe these systems - e.g. UA. Much slower than punching in numbers and the vocie is very smarmy.

    Yuk.
my standard approach is to holler 'agent, agent, agent' and eventually I get a human. fyi, not to be advised whilst in a public venue!

Usually when confronted with these things I just say "human". Usually it works.

I usually use 'agent' but will try 'humane' next time (before I bash the phone up). Really hate when they pick up the surrounding sounds. Then again, it should be easier to have my dogs talk to uncooperative agents.

    United is worse
