Virgin Australia's Velocity frequent flyer program has notched up its first 'millionaire', with Gold Coast-based Scott Gore clocking up one million Velocity Status credits.

Gore achieved this Ryan Bingham-esque feat by flying an average of three return trips each week with Virgin Australia in his role as CEO of Gold Coast financial services company Future Assist.
With a record like that, Gore is also certain to become the airline's first Platinum One member when the elite Velocity status level is rolled out in the coming months.

In the meantime he'll have to make do with a commemorative plaque, an autographed copy of Sir Richard Branson's latest book – oh, and a free holiday package to the USA, all of which Virgin Australia hand-delivered on a surprise visit to his office.
