Among the changes are a new method for earning credits that count towards a member's status.
"In preparation for this re-launch, we have made some changes to the way you earn status credits," Virgin's Velocity website said.
"These changes will make our program more rewarding and easier to compare with other frequent-flyer programs around the world.

"The way you maintain your level of membership has not changed, however we have introduced new, lower maintain thresholds."
Previously, status credits and points were earned the same way, calculated per dollar spent flying on Virgin Australia, Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue or per distance flown and fare type on V Australia and the airline group's international partners.
