Virgin America Awarded Dallas Love Field Gates
There are several news reports refuting this announcement. The gates belong to the City of Dallas and it has the final word. The city claims no decision has been made.
That said, I wouldn't be surprised if VX ultimately gets the gates. It offers the greatest possibility of more competition.
No, it doesn't, and yes, it has. VX was the only airline that DOJ would allow the gates to be awarded to. Dallas has to approve any agreement (in whatever form it may take), but they can't change the airlines on the DOJ's list.
The city owns the gates. It controls the asset and it must approve any deal.
As I said: No deal has been made and I wouldn't be surprised if VX gets the gates.
Dallas City Manager to Approve Virgin America Gates:
If the City Manager is to be believed, the city never intended to question or try to overturn the DOJ's decision.
