Good timing. I was looking at booking a trip on UA from SFO to ANC. Let's see if this will drop fares a bit.

Looks like UA did react. This morning the outbound flight I wanted was only available in W fare class. This afternoon it had S availability and the price was consequently lower. Still a bit more than the VX flights the same day, but the mileage earnings and E+/exit row with F upgrade potential make up for that.

Was the fare difference enough to make it worthwhile spending the $150 change fee?

They also have SFO-Newark coming up in April.

And LAX-EWR, 3x daily on both. United is attacking them aggressively and it will be surprising to see this end well for them, but there it is.

I didn't have an existing reservation, so no change fee. But no, it didn't drop $150/ticket. About $100.
