Just an idea for a new thread....How about MP lounge sharing? I'll let you know when I can sponsor someone to a particular lounge on a particular date.

I like this idea. Kind of like what they do on the "other forum" ;)

The 15k mile + $75 copay example is humorous. It's not like said person is paying anywhere near full F. It's probably a good example of the sort of customer who would not know what they purchased!

With that said, it's certainly easy to forget how completely foreign a lot of the wrinkles of frequent flyer programs, lounge access, etc. are to non-experts (even including frequent flyers who don't pay attention to the details). I'm not sure I even knew lounges etc existed prior to flying a lot, much less the details of who does and does not get in.

It would be nice to have it all in one place versus spread over the various airline sub-forums. Kind of a master. Just a thought. :)

Not a bad idea. However people may first go to their airline forums and not see anything. On the AC forum we could put it on our wiki I guess and point to a central location, but with so many different airlines it may become cluttered?

I thought about that too. :)

Unless there is a way to filter by airline? This is just the big picture kitty talking not thinking of the logisictal pain in the you know what it could be. :)

This guy seemed to have been expecting benefits I don't even see in some international F lounges.

And you don't need to be traveling on that airline just to get into its club, right? So this would really make more sense. I don't have to be flying on UA, for example, to be guested into a United Club that happens to be close to my gate.

    I agree.

Perhaps one main Lounge area divided by airport threads?:)

I've started using lounges a lot in the US and Internationally now... not for taking advantage of the goodies they have to offer (I can't get in on the tickets I fly) but mainly to have them mail out my post cards, since either the airport doesn't have a post box in the secure area or none at all like LAX, or the vendors don't sell stamps, and I still want to send a post card.

    What's a post card?

    Just kidding. :D

I don't think I have sent one since yahoo started free email 15 years ago.

Going to the Travel + Leisure site with the full article, I really enjoyed this comment on one of the ways to get into Lounges.

Good Strategy For: Non-elite frequent flyers with lots of excess miles.

Yep, Non-Elite with LOTS of excess miles. Doubt that anyone on MP would fit that category, if anyone anywhere does.

I don't know about you, but my free Bud Light and WiFi makes me feel like a VIP! Well at least like a SIP (sorta important person) or something.

I think I appreciate sending them just as much as people do receiving them. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside having someone to send a card to in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, US, France, etc. I think I spend more money on post cards than I probably should, lol

En español, the lounges will often be called the "Salon VIP" (as a generic term, pronounced "vip"). I have no idea if it translates somehow, but I find it amusing. Of course, in Mexico, this could be confused with a diner. http://vips.com.mx/
