Has anyone stayed in both of these? Like the VIE for shopping location, Pullman for free wifi and airport link proximity. Having a tough time deciding...

Yeah, I'd never shop at one of their duty free stores and have heard the horror stories. I'm still willing to give this hotel a try though as I've heard some glowing reviews.

I stayed at both. Reviews at my blog for both the Pullman and Vie.

My preference is the Vie as I like the location and the "boutique/chique" feel of the hotel. One of the best breakfast buffets I've had. Pullman is A LOT larger and seem impersonal to me. The pool is a lot better at the Pullman though.

Echo the comment on King Power- I will have nothing to do with them.

I decided to book the Vie a couple of months ago. Won't be there until February when we'll be on our way home. Looking forward to napping at the pool while my wife shops till she drops at the MBK center. :)

The VIE stay was fantastic and I was able to use my free platinum card to get upgraded to a Grand Deluxe room. Spectacular views from the 22nd floor and great free breakfast buffet. Free wifi in rooms would be nice, although it only cost $7 for 2 days access and it's free from the lobby and restaurant. Great location. Only a 5 minute walk to MBK.

Definitely Vie for the service, location and rooms. My Accor Gold got me upgraded to the grand deluxe room which is like an executive suite with the separate living room. Service was exemplary, they even did a tour of the room with me. And location, near the train station and main shopping area, so it was all good :)

    Congratulations!

My Accor Gold card worked exactly one time in Hue, Vietnam, where I was told they had upgraded my "fruit plate" to more "deluxe fruit" because I had an AClub Gold. You did much better than I have in the last five years- of my last 5 stays at the Pullman Guangzhou I got points credit exactly once (fortunately now there is a much nicer Crowne Plaza open nearby).

  15. Bangkok in thailand is a city of Drinks and enjoy . i had gone there in 2009 .roads are full of tourist . mostly tourists go there with friends groups. all aged people you can see to mooching there. best deal is to stay in a hotel which is at center position to you trip place .

I have been to Bangkok for few times but when I stayed in VIE Hotel, I am not staying anywhere anymore.
At VIE Hotel, you must try to book 1 bedroom suite. The living room is spacious and the setting give you a relax atmosphere which makes you feel at home. I love the colour of the timber flooring and also the lighting. The toilet is huge and VIE toiletries are Using Aigner for the guests.

Breakfast buffet has a wide spread of varieties. Western style to Asian food. From the hotel to platinum shopping mall is about 20 minutes walk.

Overall is a nice experience for family with children.[IMG]

Go to VIE Hotelwebsite itself for more detail [IMG] I've also seen that a 3-star Michelin chef has designed one of their dishes. Next time when I come back to Bangkok, I will try it & review again[IMG]

I have not stayed at the Vie, but I have stayed at the Pullman KP and will stay there again because of:
    - the nice pool
    - excellent staff in their Ex. lounge
    - nicely appointed Ex. suite
    - good french restaurant and excellent Wine bar for great wine and tapas

Next time (in October) I will try out the two new Sofitels, so don`t think I have time to visit the Pullman KP but if I do I will be there in a heartbeat :)

The King Power shops I do stay away from however.

I could have taken all those pictures my self :D

Also worth mentioning: goodbye sequence in the Ex. lounge when staff asked if they could take pictures with us, so that they could cherish the memories ;)

I'd go for this deal if it only went into our stay period early next year as the food was great and we used the wifi and laundry service earlier this year. However it unfortunately only goes until Dec. 2012. :( I'm not sure I'd be comfortable booking it via email though as that's what pops up when you click "Book Now". Too bad these deals aren't accessible via the accorhotels secure site unless I'm missing something?

I've been to both hotels now. I preferred VIE- both YTSB and La VIE were really good, the upgrade to a suite at VIE was $50 and included breakfast (and the suites at VIE are nicer than the suites at Pullman King Power). The pool IS better at the Pullman King Power, but VIE's location and services won out.

Let me see if I can add pictures soon... ;)
