We have an industry conference out in Vegas later this month.

We have the compulsory golf and dinner bookings all set. We also have a budget for some other fun activities (with customers).

Our two usual activities - shooting and race car driving - which have been approved in prior years have now been objected to by senior management. Any other ideas for fairly high-end activities - tailored towards men - that take between 3 and 5 hours and are do-able during the day?

(No girl watching or gambling, please.)

    I appreciate any thoughts. Thanks.

Did they can the cars because of the budget or insurance reasons?

If you have the money you can always ferry everybody over to LA to see the Lakers, but that depends entirely on the schedule and the budget. :)

Let's face it, there's only so much you can do in Vegas.

    Hoover Dam something or other?

I assume Cirque de Soleil would be considered a chick thing.

Arrange a high end whiskey or cognac tasting seminar? I assume cigars would be objectionable too but is alcohol OK?

What I would enjoy, because I like weird things, is a behind-the-scenes tour of the architecture, or various service roles (kitchens, laundries, nurseries, etc.), or the security system. The big casinos are like mini cities. Probably not going to get in to the security system, but a hotel might be convinced to give you a tour of something if you have all those guests. A special magic show with lessons might be another idea.

I know some of the hotels have museums, but I don't think they'll consume more than an hour or two.

I spent an afternoon at Dig This the last time I was in Vegas. We drove excavators - and it really was a ton of fun. I was skeptical at first - afterall, how much time could you spend digging holes in the ground - but the time flew by. We were both grinning ear to ear by the end of the session. As advertised - a sandbox for grownups.

I happened to be with a college buddy, but we both remarked that it would make for good client entertainment.

Isn't there one of those indoor skydiving places in Vegas?

This may be too close to race car driving, but...

learning how to drift at U-Drift was the highlight of a recent trip to Vegas. So much fun.

I have no idea what type of insurance they have. EDIT: Also not terribly "high-end."

Thanks all for your suggestions. I've offered up each of these to our events department who will figure out which works best for us. I'll let you know how we go!

Ah cool. I thought it was one of those "it's too dangerous" things so that would have obviously ruled out some suggestions. :)

I've done the indoor skydiving there and can vouch for it as a good time with the guys. You might try http://www.lasvegasflightventures.com/ Given the theme of the board you're posting on, your execs might like spending some time in a professional 737 sim.
