Have a flight this weekend ORD-YYZ on AC. I'm traveling on a UA (016) ticket, and the flight seems to be sold out. If they are looking for volunteers, what's AC's policy on VDB compensation, and does status level matter (I'm Star Gold, UA 1K)?

  2. I was on a domestic flight last week when they were offering $200 for VDB and probably an upgrade on the next flt if the pax was elite or SE.

I've been bumped a few times now while trying to run YYZ>YVR (always as a volunteer), and the standard comp seems to be $200 plus an upgrade (if flying back-of-the-bus) or $400 if already flying up front.

Same here. They are also good about rebooking you into a J fare instead of upgrading you, so you get the 50% COS bonus as well.

Is that a $200 voucher or $200 in cash (equivalent)?

    I haven't taken a VDB in probably 10 years or so ...

    Generally a voucher.
