Very sorry if I am missing a thread on this somewhere. Tried a search....

Am looking at booking a room on points at a few hotels, and revising an existing points reservation. I am now getting messages that you can't use points if you are going to have more than two people in a room. Tried adding two adults and one child. How is this possible? This would mean that my husband and I can't travel with our son? Am I missing something?

... book as 2 adults & just bring him along =)

... or alternatively call the hotel and ask them what the 3rd person rate is, if you wanted to have 3 ppl (your son) in you room with you.

But children can still stay free in U.S. rooms, right?

In part, this rule for awards is due to the fact that standard awards do not guarantee a specific room type or number of beds. Even if you reserve a room with two beds, you could end up with just one bed.

I don't know the rules for kids staying free at all of the brands or locations, but this is on the Sheraton site: "Kids stay free at Sheraton Hotels & Resorts around the world as long as they are staying with an adult and using existing bedding."

Though uncommon in the US properties, there are some hotels that have some rooms that are not big enough to legally be occupied by more than 2 guests even on paid stays.

I'm told that the limitation you encountered online is going to be fixed in a future web enhancement. Until then, children can be added (subject to room occupancy limitations) to a new or existing reservation by communicating with the Customer Contact Center nearest you.
