I am not planning on using the credit card because I don't want to pay the fee. But the low flat fee for debit card payment seems to offer an opportunity to ear some points/miles with very little cost.

I owe about $18,000 income tax, and $8000 property tax for the year. I could use my Suntrust debit card to earn some Delta miles. What other option do I have that offer better earning potential?

    Thanks.

Some credit unions have 0.5% cash back (or better) debit cards
Is there still a Chase Continental debit card?

  3. I try to avoid any debit cards because banks in general do not insure losses from them.

If you can, its almost always better with a real card, but worse for the merchant or recipient since the fees are higher.

Delta miles would be good in opinion.

I have a Chase Continental debit but I actually wonder if paying taxes would produce miles... is it a purchase? Or more of a cash advance? Who knows...
