Does the usair club allow u to visit the club even if you are not booked on a usair flight that day. Example purchase a membership, but fly Delta but want to use the usair club while you wait for the flight.

Not likely to be around too long. You might get your year out of it...

The American Express Platinum card will also allow you into US Airways Clubs without a ticket. Plus you get into Delta and American lounges, when flying same day, as well as many Alaska Air lounges (through Priority Pass Select). $200 rebate annually on one airline's ancilliary fees, plus $100 for Global Entry fee credit, etc. etc.

How do the Admiral Clubs compare to the current US Airways Clubs?

Slightly better IMHO due to greater selection of free alcohol and prevalence of showers. YMMV

Along with the perks that Gtitan notes, you can buy food at the AA lounges. It's pricey, but the omlette station at the LAX lounge was worthwhile.
