Wonder if that could be a step in the direction of an association with a hotel alliance. I've always thought that could be beneficial to Jury's Inn or Maldron Hotels in Ireland, if only to give them some brand-name recognition for those visiting from outside Ireland.

Didn't three Jury's in London recently get sold to Hilton, to become Hampton Inns?

Yes several were rebranded, but I believe Hilton don't owns them outright, but manage them for the same owner, it was an opportunity for Jury's Inn to be recognized under a more known brand and get access to the Hilton Honor loyalty program / booking / database IMHO.

Also of note is that Jury's was formally alligned / owned by the Doyle Hotel group known as Jury's Doyle, the Doyle part is now privately owned and operates luxury hotels under the Doyle Collection banner with their flagship The Westbury a member of the Leading Hotels of the World. Jury's was sold in the mid-2000's to a private consortitum of investors but was burdend with heavy debts with which the deal IMHO was financed, by private equity, no stable thanks to money with pumped into the Jury's Inn chain and ready for a new owner which could let the brand grow in the future in new markets or allign with other chains as they've done, see above in London, as they rebranded at least 3 properties in London under Hilton brand banners. Maldron on the other side are part of the Dalata hotel group which is Irelands largest hotel group and wants to float on the stockmarket in the near future and wants to grow too. We will see how it goes for all involved.
