Is it possible to reserve a room through the AMEX FHR program and then pay with a different credit card? IE book a St. Regis through FHR and then pay with the Starwood AMEX.

As long as it is another Amex. No switching to MC/Visa.

Any Amex card will work, even Co-Branded: Citi Amex, BofA Amex, USAA Amex

IIRC, all that the rules say is that "payment must be made with an American Express product."

I do it all the time. i put my charges on my Starwood card as I prefer its points.

Did a cruise booking and got a nice upgrade but had to put charge on Centurion card. Guess hotels are different.
