The United States has asked its citizens to defer all non-essential travel to Pakistan.

The presence of several foreign and indigenous terror groups poses a potential danger to U.S. citizens throughout Pakistan, The State Department said in a Travel Warning update on Tuesday.
U.S. citizens in Pakistan are strongly advised to avoid all protests and large gatherings, which have the potential to turn violent. They are also urged to avoid hotels not having stringent security measures, and to vary times and routes for all travels.

U.S. citizens who feel they are in danger or their security is at risk are strongly urged to depart Pakistan as soon as possible, says the Travel Warning.
