I seem to remember hearing that holders of the MP Explorer card will be able to get upgrades on MP Awards. Does anyone know when that benefit kicks in?

Also, is the MP Explorer card the only one with this benefit?

No idea, in the original announcement they said early 2012. Perhaps sometime around the time when both reservations systems merge might be a good guess? That is supposed to happen in March.

Officially, yes this card is the only one with the benefit, at least based on what has been announced so far. Perhaps, they will include more cards in the near future, but for now it is this card.

The OnePass Plus and Presidential Plus cards have had this benefit since early 2011. I have the OnePass Plus card and have successfully received four or five complimentary elite upgrades on domestic CO operated award flights last year - including one companion upgrade.

Very cool. How does the benefit work? Is it just part of your OP profile?

I haven't a clue. They announced it last year. I booked some domestic awards. I started getting upgraded, just like when on a paid ticket. It's nothing I can see or adjust on my profile - it's all on their back-end and out of view of the customer. Regardless, it works, and my partner and I are getting upgraded on domestic awards, so we're both quite happy.
